What Are We Doing In 2021?

This is the time of year to remember, recalibrate, regroup, and reset your sights.

Where have you been… and, more important, where are you going from here?

For my family, as we stand on the threshold of 2021, the answer to that question has a great deal to do with diversifying our investments and being in the forefront to care for underprivileged communities.

We dream of positioning ourselves in a place where our family can live independently, even self-sufficiently… while enjoying each other’s company and contributing and improving the greater local community around us and back at home.

We’re are starting by redesigning and updating our current home. We will be planting trees, creating gardens, designing comfortable spaces, and changing uncomfortable furniture to allow us to spend more time at home.

Over the past years, my husband and I have been involved in community projects in Kenya significantly or through third parties. This year we would like to expand and even create a foundation that allows us to work with the youth in the communities.

We’ve been trying to support two schools in Kenya over the past few years. We’ve donated books, computers, paid school fees, and helped in the construction. It’s been a well-intentioned but ad-hoc, irregular, and far from a comprehensive effort.

One of our primary 2021 goals is to step things up on this front. We intend to work with local communities and start a Youth Student Center to improve education. It’s the first step toward community development.

And, indeed, starting later this month and for the next few months at least, we will be laying the groundwork to find great partners to work with.

Of all the plans I’ve made for this New Year, this is the one I’m most excited about.

I share this plan with you if you intend or looking to get a community project running and might be interested in becoming involved.
